Martin Campbell

Martin Campbell (MA Politics (Hons), LLB, Dip Legal Practice, Notary Public) is a Solicitor Advocate who has a wide variety of experience in both public sector court cases as well as commercial court cases.  Martin was sworn into the rank of Solicitor Advocate by Lord Boyd in Court 8 at the Court of Session on 1 July 2016.  As a Solicitor Advocate, Martin is one of the small number of solicitors who are also allowed to appear in the Superior Courts, such as: the Court of Session (Edinburgh); the Supreme Court (London); the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (London); the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU, Luxembourg); and the European Court of Human Rights (Strasbourg).  Martin is also a member of the Society of Solicitor Advocates.

Martin regularly appears at Licensing Committees and Education Appeal Committees.  He also appears in the Sheriff Court and the Court of Session.  Martin has also acted as legal adviser in relation to a substantial number of successful Advertising Consent Appeals under Regulation 4(1) of the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (Scotland) Regulations 1984.  For example, in 2016, Martin was the legal adviser, in connection with 20 out of 20 successful Advertising Consent Appeals led by John Paton of Paton Planning and Development.  Examples of those decisions can be accessed by clicking on the following links:-
